Working with UK India Business Council

LSN’s International Director Bill Malcolm took part in a round table discussion this month, arranged by the UK India Business Council.

The participants looked at how the education and skills agenda between India and the UK could be advanced. The group leaders from these sectoral round tables then fed back presentations on the discussions to ministers later in the day.

The round table participants included representatives from Indian and UK organisations. They discussed how the relationship between the two countries can more effectively facilitate the sharing of skills within education.

Bill led a discussion on ‘train the trainer’ development, a training method that can make a real difference to education in India. This is a cost-effective but long-term solution that we are currently introducing in India with our local partner, Career Launcher.

Other discussions took place around the work of the UK India Skills Forum and the FICCI Skills Group. It is hoped that the discussions provide the Joint Economic Trade Committee (JETCO) with some useful insights into the UK skills on offer to the Indian education system and how to develop the relationships between Indian and UK skills providers.
