Post 16 Citizenship
Citizenship education gives young people the knowledge, skills and understanding to play an effective role in society at local, national and international levels. It helps them to become informed, thoughtful and responsible citizens who are aware of their rights and duties. It encourages young people to play an active part in the life of their learning organisations, neighbourhoods, communities and the wider world. The Post-16 Citizenship Support Programme is run by the Learning and Skills Network on behalf of the Quality Improvement Agency. The support programme offers free advice, materials and training to organisations wishing to deliver post-16 citizenship to their learners.
Young people and staff involved in citizenship work can use this site to find out the latest news about post-16 citizenship. The site includes coverage of key citizenship issues and support for delivery with the opportunity to download free materials and resources and link to other useful sites.
