M Teaching & Learning
Overview
This workshop provides an essential foundation for professionals who are new to
the field of mobile learning. Focussing on the teaching principles that underpin
the use of mobile devices for learning, this workshop embodies the essence of
LSN’s approach – combining technology and pedagogy.
However, it also goes far beyond theory, covering a range of practical techniques
to ensure that resources and activities using mobile devices are designed with a
learner-focus.

Delegates attending this workshop will:
- Gain an understanding of how and why they create resources
- Explore activities linked to Bloom and consider ways to extend learners within
the taxonomy
- Create resources with particular learners in mind
- Identify at least one resource and/or activity that they will change in order
to make it moreaccessible for users
How does it work?
Delegates will have an opportunity to participate in content creation, as well
as adopting a reflective approach to their own experience and that of other
delegates.
- Group discussion to identify reasons for thinking about ‘m’ in terms of
learning
- Practical activity looking at text based activities, followed by a discussion
about the underpinning knowledge and IT skills required in order to engage
learners
- Practical activity capturing moving and still images for resource creation and
portfolio production, followed by a discussion about the underpinning knowledge
and IT skills required
- Presentation and practical activity looking at how activities and resources can
be made appropriate for all learners by considering the added value and
addressing the M-Accessibility Model
- Presentation about resource creation and whether quality rather than ‘quick and
dirty’ is best.
- Looking at tips and techniques on how to develop longer lasting resources
